DEAR JOHN by Nicholas Sparks

With a name like Sparks, I knew it had to be good!

"Dear John," the letter read. And with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives changed forever. When Savannah Lynn Curtis comes into his life, John Tyree know he is ready to turn over a new leaf. An angry rebel, he had enlisted in the army after high school. not knowing what else to do. Then, during a furlough, he meets Savannah, the girl of his dreams. The attraction is mutual and quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah vowing to wait for John while he finishes his tour of duty. But neither can foresee that 9/11 is about to change the world. Like so many proud men and women, John must choose between love and country. Now, when he finally returns to North Carolina, John will discover how love can transform us in ways we never could have imagined.

*****FIVE STARS. I am looking forward to seeing the move, yet not expecting too much from it, so I won't be disappointed.

Happy Birthday...

Today is my little girls birthday, she is 14!!! I can't believe time has flown by so quickly. (I remember when...) She is a busy little bee, here lately. With try-outs and practices... 9th grade will be a year of adjusting.

We celebrated her birthday w/ her BFF on Saturday evening at Whiskey Creek River Restaurant. Then had a sleep over. Sunday we had a cake celebration at church with all her friends there. Tonight I plan on bringing her a surprise home, along with a bite of cake and gifts... AFTER she gets home from her volley ball clinic (6-8p). LONG DAY!

I do have myself a straight "A" student, though! She is really a hard worker and although her organization skills are not the best, she manages to do what needs to be done. It is a little frustrating to live in a house where everyone is un-organized but me. I go around putting things in order, just to have it slowly go back to the way it was. (Will I ever give up?)

My weight loss journey is proving to be a success this week. I am only 6.5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight! I am amazed at that, considering the twins are not even 5 months old yet.

Speaking of which, their Mom called me the other week and also sent me photos of the boys. My, oh My... how they have grown! She said they are doing well and growing so much... each weighing in at or close to 15 pounds! Such little chunkers! I wished I could hold them.... I know I have said that before... and I will continue to. That is the one thing I wasn't able to do... and it will forever be a desire in my heart. To hold the babies that I was able to carry for a special couple.

I am reading DEAR JOHN... just slowly! I should be finished by the end of the month, if not sooner. Great book so far and I am on part III.

Reading...

TENDING ROSES by Lisa Wingate

"The lessons that most enrich our lives often come at unexpected moments and from unlikely places. That's what Kate Bowman learns when she moves temporarily--with her husband, Ben and baby son --to her grandmother's Missouri farm.. She arrives at a time of crisis and indecision - struggling with the demands of being a new mother, and not-so-new wife, and a well-meaning but often impatient granddaughter. The family has assigned her and Ben the job of convincing Grandma Rose, who's become increasingly stubborn and forgetful, to move off the land that means so much to her and into a nursing home. Kate knows such a change would break her grandmother's heart. But what is right for her grandmother? And what is right for her family and herself?

Just when Kate despairs of finding answers, she discovers her grandmother's journal. A beautiful handmade notebook, it is full of heartwarming stories that celebrate the virtue of patience, the power of love and the importance of family, friendship, and faith. Stories that make Kate see her life- and her grandmother- in a completely new way... and lead her toward a new, more meaningful future..."

Great Book! I would keep it but it is literally falling apart! This was a well read book, apparently! Highly recommended!

Winter Blues Getting You Down?

The winter blues are getting me down, that's for sure. I can't wait until Spring finally arrives! Oh, to see the first sign of a green bud.... my heart does long! *smiles*

I have been sick with strep for the last week. Last night I finally felt like exercising. Kris and I did TaeBo for an hour and then did some weights and stretching. The scale was grinning at both of us this morning, which tells me we have been doing something right this past week (even if we weren't able to exercise).

I have finished reading my last book... oh I think I finished it last week. I will try and get the review posted soon. Starting on a new book now, which has a movie out. "Dear John" Looking forward to reading that book.

Yesterday I got an email from the twins' mom. She sent pictures and an update. I was thrilled, to say the least! The boys have grown so much... I do wished I would have gotten to hold them, at least once. OH well, they were in the nicu and that wasn't an option at the time. Maybe one day, when they are still small enough to hold I will get to. LOL

Well enough of my rambling. Just wanted to post a lil' sum'um. Take care my blog readers and friends!
