The Pianist

We may not think we accomplish much with our lives, says Kenneth Holland, but when God combines His efforts with ours, the result can be amazing.

A little girl and her mother lived together in a small-town hotel. Each afternoon the child would practice on the piano in the hotel lobby for at least two hours.

The other guests who had gathered there seamed much annoyed by her discordant notes.

One day, a guest heard several people complaining about the irritating monotony of the child's simple exercises. Without a word, the visitor-himself an accomplished pianist-made his way to the piano and sat down on the bench beside the girl. He began to play the piano with her, weaving around and through her humdrum exercises some great and unusual harmonies. Soon the surprised guests began making their way into the lobby to listen to the beautiful music.

The little girl's feeble efforts had been made glorious by the great musician.

Some people may criticize our service for God. However, the Master of human life can work around our feeble efforts, weaving His purposes in and around them, so that the final effect of our life is glorious, indeed.

Doctor's Appt.

I had a very good appt. today. I am measuring 44 weeks and all my tests came back either the same or good. The doctor is very surprised at how well my body is responding to the bed rest and that my pre-eclampsia hasn't gotten worse. Although I am having more swelling over the last week, I am feeling good. Well, as good as anyone could feel considering I am as big as a house!

The boys are doing well also. A weighs 3 lbs 5 oz. and B weighs 3 lbs 10 oz. All their measurement are on track and the fluids are great! They are; however, both laying sideways in my uterus. LOL I guess we will wait and see if A turns head down to determine if I can have a 'normal' birth.

The count down has begun. 25 days until I travel to Illinois. Max of 6.5 weeks before I deliver.

THE NEW GIRL IN TOWN by Brenda Harlen

Beautiful big-city transplant Zoe Kozlowski came to Pinehurst to heal from a failed marriage and a frightening battle with breast cancer. So the passionate photographer instantly threw herself into an ambitious project: transforming her new home into a bed-and-breakfast. Luckily for her, the best architect-and most eligible bachelor-in town just happened to be her neighbor, Mason Sullivan.
Gorgeous Mason's interest in the renovation quickly turned more than professional. But as captivating as he found his new neighbor, she was also a reminder of his painful childhood. Mason had vowed long ago never to risk losing his heart again-but how could he have known such temptation would lurk just next door?

Great story about surviving breast cancer and the emotional roller coaster that comes along with it.

Tranquility Day Spa

Back in June, some very good friends of mine pitched in and bought me a gift certificate for a prenatal massage. It was a great and very thoughtful birthday present. I decided to hold on to it until I felt I really needed a day of relaxation.

This past week I felt the need for it. I was so stressed and tired that the working over of my muscles was a welcome distraction. I have to admit that my awkward belly made getting on and off the massage table very challenging. Not to mention, turning on my side for the back portion triggered my round-ligament to pull and send painful shocks through my body. That was relieved by a pillow under my belly. Have I mentioned how freakin' big this belly is??? Growing by leaps and bounds weekly. Once I got settled on my side, she was able to finish the relaxing massage.

Thank you goes out to all who contributed to the gift. Muah!

NST

I had the NST last Thursday. Everything went well and the doctor was totally pleased.

Monday we have the growth ultrasound and the bio-physical on the boys. I always love seeing them. It is amazing to see how much bigger they have grown in 4 weeks.

They sure seem to be move a LOT here lately. Kicking. Turning. Hiccups.

OUCH is the only word I have for it at times. Twice the movements and 1/2 the room. I am now in the area where it is uncomfortable.

ACCIDENTALLY EXPECTING by Michelle Celmer

*Funny title*

About that night... It was supposed to be a sexy one-time indulgence. Two rivals in the self-help world coming together for an evening of fun. But Miranda Reed soon realized she was pregnant and was horrified at having to confront her baby's father. Though irresistible, Zach was the last person she wanted to see again... or was he?
A traditionalist, Zach Jameson insisted on marrying Miranda. And the more time he spent with the fiery writer, the more he really wanted her in his life... permanently. No longer did he care about keeping his image intact. They could live in sin and have a posse of love children, for all he cared-just as long as he could call her his...

This was a good book. What the above doesn't tell you is how sweet and kind the guy is and how the girl is just wanting to maintain control over her own life.

I am feeling really annoyed tonight. Not sure what exactly triggered this annoying feeling; however everything seems to be contributing to the feeling.

OH WELL ... I guess I will state a few facts for the interest of my readers.

There is nothing good on TV tonight.
Chad cut the air off after me saying I was hot.
I need a strawberry milk shake.
I am annoyed.
Shopping theropy is needed. (but what should I buy?)
4.5 weeks and I am off to Illinois.
I am not looking forward to the PAIN of labor.
Can't wait to hold these bundles in my arms.

OK e'nuf of that!

Sunday Get Together!

I am a couple weeks past due on posting this.
MEETING OF THE MINNIES!

I wonderful group of ladies (and 1 hubby) visited me Sept. 6th. These are my surro friends. Here is the breakdown...
2 preggo
2 gathering info (plus 1 hubby)
2 intended moms (plus 1 teen)
1 surro mom from Feb.

Then there was Chad, Kris and me.
Yes we had a house full... but I enjoyed the company! It was great to hang out and chit chat about different things. To tell about where we are in our journey and the pros and cons to things.

Here is a few of the people that came to visit me.

The best part about this meeting... only 2 of the ladies, I have met before. The others drove anywhere from 2 hrs to 3 hrs one way. I really felt honored to have them care enough to want to come to my house, to take time out of their day, to arrange for sitters for their kids and come and see me. People I have never met was excited and welcomed the opportunity to come and visit me on bed rest. It really meant a lot to me!

Movie Night!

This past Saturday my daughter and I had a movie night. After speaking with M&M, I popped up some popcorn and settled down...

We started with the movie HOTEL FOR DOGS. This was a good family movie over all. We had some laughs!!!

We then watched OBSESSED. Beyonce' was one of the stars in this one. This one was a suspense and it was great!

ROMANCING THE TEACHER by Marie Ferrarella

Schoolteacher Lisa Kittridge had sworn off men for a while, but when she met Ian Malone, her gorgeous, if exasperating, new volunteer, that promise went out the window! She'd vowed never to get involved with another man, yet she couldn't control her urges to crack the mystery he was hiding behind. Who was the real Ian Malone?
Ian knew that working as a volunteer for a lovely teacher at a homeless shelter wasn't exactly a prison sentence. But he had an identity he was loathe to reveal and secrets to keep-and the beautiful Lisa was too dangerous to be around. Loose lips, and all that...

Water Pots

Do you sometimes feel useless? This familiar parable will help to put life's imperfections in perspective.

A water bearer in India carried two large pots suspended from the ends of a pole that he carried across his shoulders. One of the pots was perfect and delivered a full load of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the master's house. But the other pot was cracked and always arrived only half full.
The cracked pot felt sad that it could achieve only half of what it had been made to do. One day, it spoke to the water bearer. "For months, years, I've delivered only half my load. This crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to the master's house, and thus you don't get full value from your efforts."
The water bearer replied, "As we return to the master's house, I want you to notice the beautiful flowers along the path." As they went up the hill, the cracked pot noticed the sun warming many beautiful wildflowers.
"Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path?" the water bearer asked. "That's because I've always known about your flaw and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path. The water that leaked from you watered them every day as we walked back from the stream."

We're all cracked pots, but nothing goes to waste in God's great plan. He uses our flaws to grace the universe. So don't be afraid of your flAws, for in your weakness you will find your strength.

Whatcha' Doing?

Just got done reading through the book and papers I got from the birthing class. I glanced through them during the classes back a couple months ago. Today I was thinking of the things I will need to pack. I actually need a few bags packed. Due to the unusual circumstances, I will need one for me at the hospital. I will also need one for my stay at M&M and then we need one for hubby and daughter. Theirs will be more of an overnight bag, similar to what I will need for the hospital. SO that was the reason I was reading through the book... to find the page with suggestions of things I might not think of. Like...lip balm, cards, paper and pen. Feel free to comment and add anything you might think I will need.

Bio-Physical

Just a quick update:

I had an appt this week. The boys got a bio-physical and everything looked great. All my typical things were the same. I did have a glucos test and it came back fine although my iron is low. So now I am on iron pills. Not bad!

My uterus is measuring 40 weeks and I sure feel like I am stretched to the max! I updated my pic on the left! I just love feeling the boys move. They get all excited when they hear me crunching something and have the hiccups several times a day. I have hard time deciding which one it is though. I am praying they will stay put until Halloween and they turn head down by then.

THE HOST by Stephenie Meyers. You might recognize the name from the Twilight Series. Yes I have read them and they are awesome. So why wouldn't I read her 1st book? She is a great writer and I commend her accomplishments!!!

I have never really been into alien type movies; si-fi was never my pick. However this awesome tale of humans invaded with alien... known as SOULS was intriguing. Imagine that... the humans have a soul! lol

The book is about Melanie Stryder. She refuses to fade away and become a host for the invaders. Having their mind taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed.
When Melanie, one of the few remaining 'wild' humans, is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.
Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves-Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

I was very into this book and found myself emotionally attached to both of the main characters. The last chapter left me crying uncontrollably (although it could have been the hormones of the twin pregnancy. lol). The epilogue was a wonderful wrap up and left ME yearning for more. Too bad the story ended...

I give this book 2 thumbs up and an alien soul to boot!!!

NST

My non-stress test was today. The doctor was pleased with the cooperation the boys gave us. Everything looks great and we are good until the next appt!!!

Side Note: I enjoy Grey's Anatomy. The episodes are on Netflix so I decided to add the complete series to my que. There is 2 disc for Season 1. I am not sure I have ever seen season 1 so I am excited about watching them. Tomorrow I will relax and recuperate from my long day today by watching these 2 discs.

MOTHER IN TRAINING-TALK OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD by Marie Ferrarella

Desperate Dad seeks supernanny!
Meticulous and by-the-book, corporate lawyer Jack Lever was used to order- not the disorder of two small children. When his babysitter abruptly quit, the single dad didn't know where to turn. He couldn't believe his good luck when Zooey Finnegan agreed to become his nanny.

Uninhibited and fun, Zooey was happy to take care of Jack's children instead of sitting behind a desk in her family's business. And to her surprise, Zooey soon loved the Levers like they were her own flesh and blood. It didn't take long for Jack's kids to fall hopelessly in love with her, either.

Jack on the other hand almost screws it up by letting her walk away.

Great Book!!!

My 27th week appt.

My appt went well yesterday. The boys are growing appropriately and weigh 2.0 and 2.7 lbs. They are head down and actually in a great position to deliver, if they would just stay there. LOL Right now they are too wiggly to be still. LOL My b/p is looking great and the doctor is completely satisfied with the results from this appt.

At my next ob appt, they will check to see if the placenta's are out of the way for a possible vaginal delivery.

Movie Night! MARATHON...

12-4 THE GATHERING~ This was about a doctor who's wife disappeared. As he searches for clues to where she might be, he realized she was into witchcraft. This knowledge leads him to believe she had joined a cult or coven. She ends up being a prisoner there and all sorts of crazy things happen. It had a twist at the end that leads the viewer into thinking, is there a part 2? The movie reaffirmed my belief that this isn't something to play around with. Great Movie!

4-6 DEVIL'S DIARY~ This was about a diary that has power. Anything written in the book that was wrote out of hate.... happened. Some scenes were gross and others were unbelievable. Did I mention the book was in the hands of teenagers? LOL Well, as the friend tries to get the book into the 'right' hands, she quickly realizes there is no one that is immune to the power the book has. Cool effect!

6-8 HOUSE NEXT DOOR~ This was about a vacant lot that soon has a beautiful house built on it. The neighborhood is extremely sociable so there is plenty of interaction there. More so than your typical block party. Each owner of the house quickly changes emotionally and does something horrible. The original owner: pregnant wife is pushed down stairs by the husband at the neighborhood open house and she loses the baby. Owner #2: the wife keeps seeing her dead son and eventually hangs herself, while her husband who stopped drinking is now drinking again and having an affair with a neighbor. Owner #3: the family consist of a husband, wife and 1 child. The husband and wife end up killing each other because he goes crazy and said she was trying to poison him. The neighbor right next door sees all of this and is totally obsessed with preventing any more deaths from that possessed house. The designer and builder is hanging around all the time. In the end it burns to the ground, but not after taking another life. I had a headache at this point and wasn't 100% into this one. Although it was a good movie!

8-10 STRANGER WITH MY FACE~ This was the movie I really was waiting to see. It has the actress from "7th Heaven" in it. Crazy movie about a girl with a twin and that twin is trying to reach her through transporting from her body. Can't remember the name of it. The dad dies first thing in the movie and the mom and 2 daughters move. Soon after the oldest starts seeing someone that looks like her. She finally asks her mom who confesses that when they adopted her she did have a twin. She tries to find the twin and it all unfolds from there. Anywho, Great suspenseful movie! There are a few tragedies in this movie though.

10-12 WIND CHILL~ This movie was on a little later than I typically stay up. I wasn't sure I would make it through this one. We moved to the bedroom and continue watching it... until the end. This movie was about a couple college kids who was going home for the holidays. With plenty of twists and turns along the way to keep you on the edge of your seat. They get run off the road by another car and stranded in the middle of no where in the blizzard. They keep seeing these really weird looking people, who at any time (I was sure) would come and get them. Surprisingly enough, it was the unexpected passer-byers that actually were the bad people. Sad to say that only 1 person made it out alive of this movie. Still it was a great movie!

THE RELUCTANT CINDERELLA - TALK OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD

This book is about a plain, full figured woman named Megan Schumacher. She was the most dependable person on Danbury Way, the sleek suburban cul-de-sac where she lived over her sister's garage. Certainly not the kind of girl who would rock anyone's boat-until she fell for the (barely)ex-husband of her neighbor!

Greg Banning planned to hire Megan to redo his marketing plan, but he counted the minutes until each of their meetings. As their romance heated up, Greg realized she was everything he wanted in a woman, and his thoughts began to stray to marriage. But the talk created scandal and Megan couldn't handle it.

After breaking up, then got together in the end and this book was a good, easy read. I wouldn't suggest it for teens; however it was interesting enough for the mature audience. Not to mention, it is great to see the bigger girl get her princess charming!

Two Thumb's UP

Special thanks for my hubby for five books he bought for me from the IUK library!
