The doctor took a nice long look at my thumb yesterday and examined it thoroughly. Said that she didn't see anything else in there. Although it is swollen and red, she reassured me that it wasn't infected and may just take longer to heal. She gave me some free topical antibiotic cream (pregnancy safe) to apply. Told me to keep it clean and then went on to tell me to avoid people with the FLU and to wash hands, don't touch my eyes, nose or mouth unless I have just washed my hands and to avoid crowds. She said that there are meds out there; however they aren't safe for women who are pregnant. I didn't realize until yesterday that neosporan isn't safe for me... hummm... got to make sure I am careful!

Thumbs

Here are some general rules about thumbs:
*Thumbs make tools work and are your most useful digit on your hands.
*A large part of your brain area is dedicated to controlling the thumbs. Therefore thumbs are an excellent indicator for what is happening in your mind. They reveal how you feel about doing things, like using your personal power to take charge and make things happen.
*Your thumb angle will change as your attitude about doing things and exercising leadership changes from moment to moment.
*Over time your thumbs are shaped by your consistent subconscious attitude about doing things, getting results, and succeeding. If your thumbs are strong, that indicates you can take care of yourself and get the results desired.
*When the index finger is longer than the ring finger that is an additional indicator of strong leadership.

I took a thumb angle test and here are MY results:
Your medium thumb angle reveals that you are balanced, confident and self-reliant. You work well both alone and with others. It is not necessary to be a "take charge" person who dominates all the activities of others around you. You can take the leadership role if necessary but being the leader is not your goal. Your satisfaction comes from getting results, no matter how they are achieved or who gets the credit.

You are not overly mental about what you are going to do, so you don't waste a lot of time doing unnecessary planning. You do things when the time is right for you. You seldom need help but if you do, you accept it graciously.

If you have friends with a small angled thumb, they may seem to be a little slower getting started doing things than you. No problem, you generally call on your own inner leadership and jump in to get them started. One of your virtues is that you are resourceful and can be depended on by others to take the leadership role when needed. You conserve your energy and resources until you need them and then you produce results that surprise others.

Hints for even more success in life:
Holding your thumb out at a big angle greatly helps to raise your energies for doing things. This is similar to throwing your shoulders back and expanding your chest when you are depressed. That change in body posture is opposite to the posture of a depressed person so the mind and the hormones it produces change to match the new body posture and you aren't so depressed. The same thing happens when holding your thumb out at a big angle. The mind and the hormones are revved up for action when the thumb is held out at a big angle!

(For women) Wearing a thumb ring, plus holding the thumb out, will give a subconscious boost for extra energy to get things done more effectively.

Why the sudden interest in thumbs, you ask? Well Saturday while I was avoiding snakes... I stabbed my thumb with some dried up vines from last year's Morning Glory. Needless to say, it still hurts. It is red, tender and a little swollen. So I have an appointment with my family doctor to check it out. I think there may still be a piece of something in there and I don't want it to get infected. Besides the obvious fact that I NEED my thumb, infections and pregnancy really don't work together. So I want to make sure it is taken care of NOW! No glory in the left over Morning Glory!

Weekend Update

Hey, I had my 1st non-sick day yesterday! So happy for those...

This weekend was busy. Let me share what happened this Saturday. After a long day at Kris' volley ball tourney, we decided to do some yard work. It was about 3ish and warm out... 80 degrees with a breeze.

Kris and I was finishing up a cleaning project in the flower bed that I started the weekend before. I had gotten 1/2 done then and wanted to FINISH that area. So I was raking and cutting old vines, cleaning out the hostas and cutting down unwanted baby trees. Nothing real strenuous. Kris and I was almost finished when I raking the last area to bag... all of a sudden I seen a snake slithering along the brick that I was less than a foot away. It was about a foot and a half long and a creamy brown color w/ a stripe down its back. It hurried in a hole along the brick. After I screamed and yelled and asked Kris to watch the hole so I could go get Chad, he finally came over about 10 min. later. (no help, he was) So I had her watch the hole while I finished raking and gathering the rest of the dead plants. I am thinking back. I was only inches away from it at one point when I was down there cutting the morning glory back.... omg!

Sunday she and I went for Sunday School and then headed home to get ready for another volley day. We were there from noon - 5pm. She wanted to go to youth service so she showered and we headed back to church to finish the movie we started this month. We watched the Passion of Christ for our April project.

A little tired today, but taking it easy at work!

Books...

I was looking over my posts and noticed my mention of the Twilight Series. On Palm Sunday I obtained "Breaking Dawn" from my bff Jamie. By the following Monday night, I was done and returned it at our Ladies Circle of Love Meeting. I loved the series and was really sad it was over. Then I remembered that there was another book prematurely released on the Internet, Edwards version of "Twilight". So I looked up Stephanie Meyers' website and found that she so graciously put it on there for her viewer to read. The book isn't complete; however she felt that since it was 'leaked' out already, why make her readers feel bad by reading it from a neg. source. So Tuesday I started reading that and was done with the partial book by Thursday. Another great addition to the collection I plan to buy.

This past week I started reading "Mixed Blessings". It was so interesting! I didn't know what the book was about when I bought it... There wasn't an informational cover or anything. But I started reading this hardback novel... low and behold, it was about 3 couples facing INFERTILITY!!! How crazy is that?!?!? I cried when they cried and laughed at the blessing they finally got in the end. Some were mixed blessing, yet still blessings. Just so interesting to read about something that I am now surrounded by. Came at a perfect time since this coming week is...

Ultrasound Today

I borrowed this image from the medical web site I stumbled upon. It is so cool though. That is twins at 8 week... and I am 8.5 weeks! Today was my ultrasound and I am happy to report all went well. The boys are growing and right on track. God is good!!! I am hoping that when the clinic calls this afternoon or tomorrow I will be released to my OB doctor for the remaining duration of the pregnancy. It is hard to feel like a normal pregnancy when I have been to the hospital for 6 tests in the last 30ish days. Not complaining... just saying that is a lot. But very soon I will fall in the normal range... Well as normal as it can be considering I am a surrogate for some very dear people. M&M are so excited it is really beyond word at the moment. So who defines the work normal? People do... what ever is the most common is normal... no matter if it is right or wrong. But that can open a can of worms if I go that route. So for now... normal pregnancy is what I want.

Palm Sunday...

Please scroll down and cut off auto music at the bottom of this page before clicking play on this video. My daugther is the main girl in a White Tee.

7.5 week ultrasound

I went in for my ultrasound this morning. I was their first appointment so I was able to get in and out in NO TIME. The boys are doing well! Their size has umm... tripled I would say. They are way bigger than the yoke sak now! Since the appointment was so early M&M wasn't able to come. However there will be plenty more appointments that they can attend.
Right now M&M are working on finding a delivering doctor. She ran into some issues the beginning of the week; however after speaking with her yesterday. I think she may have found a light at the end of the tunnel. No matter what, I am sure things will work out in the end. I just hope I feel comfortable with the doctor I end up with. I am not gonna worry too much about it right now though. Time will tell...

The baby is inbetween the marks and is connected to the "yoke sak" which is it's life source until the placenta is fully developed.

Next u/s is Thursday!

How are Twins created?

I had a false alarm today. I ate some strawberries that tasted good... then started feeling sick. Nothing new! Most food makes me feel sick after I eat it, sometimes before I eat it. LOL Anyway. I took off to the restroom in a mad dash (good thing it is across the hall from my office). I thought I was gonna get sick. A few deep breaths later and I was ok. Ok as in, nothing came up. A friend of mine suggested chewing gum after eating, so after lunch I did just that. It seems to give me time to allow the digestive system to work. Anywho, in case you didn't gather from the blog page... I am preggo with twins! woohoo!!! All is over-joyed with excitement for these little miracles!

Embryos Hatching

I didn't get a picture of the 2 little embryos before they transferred them. However I was searching around online this morning and found 2 photos.

They are both of embryos hatching from the shell. Our lil' beans were almost completely out of the shell and looked amazing! They said they were at the point of a implantation. For my readers I thought I would post a couple pictures to give you somewhat of a visual of what M & I saw that Sunday. Two beautiful hatching embryos!

As I scanned the photos today and seen pictures of fetus' and blastcoyts, I had a teary moment. They were beautiful! God's creation is beautiful! He never ceases to amaze me!

This weeks update.

I sure have been busy this week. I haven't posted since Friday. LOL

Thursday (3/26) was my first beta and it came back with great numbers (808).
Monday was my second beta and it came back with great numbers (6995).
Thursday was my third beta and it came back with great numbers (20,278).

All the numbers are high. Which is good. I am pregnant! On Thursday, April 9th, we will have an ultrasound. M&M will be joining me. Well she will be. I am so excited to have her with me during this appointment. The FIRST ultrasound. We will get to see the baby or babies. They will be able to see how many implanted. We are hoping to hear the heart beat and maybe if we are lucky enough, get a photo of them. Yes I am speaking in plural. We transferred two and until it is confirmed otherwise, I will continue to speak as if there are two growing in me.

I am so tired lately. I guess I forgot how tired being pregnant can make you. LOL All and all, everything is perfect. I am looking forward to sharing this special time with M&M.

Next week is Spring Break. We have a Palm Sunday Drama to perform this Sunday. My daughter's dad is coming up to see it and then to take her with him for a week. Due to two people in the sales dept taking off that week, I will be bringing my food and dining in. Monday evening I have a Ladies Circle of Love meeting to attend. Tuesday and Wednesday will be uneventful, prolly take a nap after work. lol Thursday is the u/s. Friday we are off work so Chad and I will travel to visit his G'ma (she's 99) and then continue south to pick up Kris. I will prolly nap on the way. hehehe. I need lots of naps lately.

I have taken full advantage of my restrictions. I have already read 3 novels in the last 3 weeks. Twilight, New Moon, & Eclipse. I am on chapter 6 in Breaking Dawn. Since Kris isn't finish with it.. it may take longer. LOL I called the library and was put on their waiting list for it... dang... I am number 5 on the list!
